What category would my job fall under? (Car Ins.)

Hi, I'm just looking for other peoples opinions on what my job would fall under when applying for car insurance.
I work for an Authorised Treatment Facility (so basically a car scrapyard) and I sell the 2nd hand parts for them on eBay. I list things, answer messages, answer some phonecalls and also take credit/debit card payments over the phone as well as filing etc.
When using go compare etc I've been listing my occupation as "Sales Support" in "Motor Factor/Parts" but I'm not sure if that's even right!
Does anyone have an opinion on this? I'm trying to make sure everything is straighter than straight with the info I give (I'm a natural worrier
). I'd like to point out that I don't dismantle the cars, nor need to drive them anywhere, I'm just office based.
Thanks in advance!

You are in the motor trade. Saying you are sales support in motor trade is fine but make sure you always declare it is motor trade as this is the sort of thing an insurer would almost certainly contest a payout on if it came down to it.0

Thanks for the reply!
With my last policy I called to confirm about the job and told them exactly what I did, and it wasn't a problem. But with a lot of companies excluding jobs related to the motor trade, does that mean I'm looking at problems getting insured? (Doesn't help that the car is a Cat. C write off, so I'm limited as it is). If so, what would the alternative be?0 -

I can't see that the OP is in the motor trade if they do not sell whole cars. Motor Factor/Parts, or Scrap Disposal would seem the obvious matches for the business.
Disclosing the occupation as Motor Trade would be unnecessarily limiting the OP's range of quotes and would also generally lead to the exclusion of 'Driving other cars'.0 -

Where exactly does it state the motor trade only sell full cars?
If the insurer offers factor/scrap in their boxes fair enough; if not then motor trade in my view would be the one to choose.0 -

Both 'Motor Factor/Parts' and 'Scrap Disposal' are included in the ABI's standard business list ("Code 55") so most insurers will offer it as an option...0 -

In which case fair enough; the OP should ensure though they don't offer full cars for sale or get involved in the purchasing of cars - even if for disposal - as they are then arguably acting beyond the above.0
