    Thank you for your comments.

After looking into details further we have finally decided to get married in Lake Como, Italy and are researching potential venues and wedding planners, so would like to know if anybody can advise on the following:

The two venues we are looking at are Villa Cipressi, Varenna and Hotel Serbellino, Bellagiao and I was wondering if anybody has been or had their weddings at either of these venues?

Also, the wedding planners that we are looking at are Sally from The Lake Como Wedding Planner, Alessandra from Italian Lake Weddings and again I am wondering if anybody has used these before?

We are visiting Lake Como in October to meet with planners and view potential venues, we are looking at staying in Bellagio but have been told their are no villas for large parties here, so I am wondering if you have had a wedding in Lake Como which area you and your wedding party stayed at.

Any information would be greatly useful as I am searching the web and there is just so much information.

    Thanks

    Vickie

Been to Lake Garda and it was beautiful, but don't think i have been to Lake Como.

Google for villas yourself and don't necessarily leave it to the wedding planners to sort your accomodation as they won't know what you require...Holiday rentals and holiday lettings are a good place to start.

    How exciting!!

    I can definitely recommend Sicily.

Hubby and I got married in Ragusa, Sicily at end of May this year. We hired a gorgeous villa for a week before the wedding, had all our family and friends come to stay for as long as they wanted and then had the wedding in the beautiful town hall in Scicli, with the reception back at the villa. When everyone had finished eating, drinking and dancing they just rolled into bed - no need for taxis etc - perfect!

I can highly recommend Louise at the Sicilian Villa Company (sorry, can't post website link as I'm a newbie ;-) ). She manages properties incl loads of villas in Sicily, and also planned our wedding. The villa we hired was called Villa Zinna (although I think it may since have been renamed to Villa Elena).

All our guests LOVED the setting and the food. You can't go wrong!

    Good luck!

How many people did you have at your wedding day at Villa Zinna, we are booked for next year and thinking that maybe 110 people may come. I have heard from another bride that she mentioned that 80 max would sit at a wedding reception there. bit worried if everyone will fit. what do you think??

  • Has anyone tried the Wedding Bookers Italia directory? You can contact suppliers directly there who all speak English and so don't need a wedding planner. I got married on Lake Como as well and used them to find musicians, photographers, florists etc. We tried wedding planners and they seem to want quite a lot of the wedding budget for themselves!
