Itunes 7.0 - Finally deleted gapping between tracks?

Live albums, classical works, or any work that sounds best when it’s continuous, now seamlessly transitions from one song to another.

Have Apple finally solved the problem of playing back mix compilation CD's so that its now continuous without any gaps........If so, then this is a pretty damn good step at long last and may convince me to 'risk' downloading the upgrade

Will iTunes apply any sort of tagging to your MP3s? as it does for the soundcheck feature as this is something I wouldn't want to happen to my collection.

Haved now downloaded itunes 7 and its pretty cool - gaps between track have disappeared. Have now just connected my ipod to update and its told me a newer version of Ipod software is available (1.2 and I currently have 1.0) - what in this? is it recommended to download it? Its just that I don't trust downloading with all the problems people report (I can always reload itunes but sorting out my ipod if it goes wrong scares me a bit). Also maybe the new gapless won't work on my ipod without the next software? Sorry for all the questions - any help much appreciated

if you really want to make use of the gapless stuff, I install them as a matter of course.

having said that some people are saying it breaks movies etc converted with 3rd party tools

Just installed and all seems ok. Now gapless between tracks (most of my stuff is mix compilation stuff) which is great. Thanks for your help

Quite a few 'oddities' being reported with iTunes 7.0 and 1.2 update to the 5G. My iPod has lost ability to show artwork after upgrading:mad: Hopfully 7.01 and 1.21 will be with us soon.

artwork is still showing, though they have updated how it is stored in itunes so don't know if that is affecting yours.
