Unit prices for gas and electricity
Just out of interest what unit prices do people pay for their gas and leccy? Unfortunately I am unable to switch providers as there is only one provider for each over here, but I am interested to know how the prices compare to what other people are paying.
Gas - 6.2030
Electricity - 11.04
Prices just seem to rise relentlessly and despite using less of each I'm paying more. It will be a choice of heating or eating this winter I think.

Gas tariffs varies between 2p and 3p kWh for tier 2 rates(the first units each quarter- normally 1,143 are more expensive.
Electricity depends on the area of UK but between 7p and 12p kWh.
The lower prices above are generally for tariffs not available to new customers.
New customers pay upwards of 2.5p for gas and 9p for electricity0 -
We are definitely being ripped off over here by the sounds of it! That's what you get when there is a monopoly. It's the same with the internet. I would love to be able to get something like Tiscali because their broadband charges are the same as I am paying for dial-up.0

It's to compensate, Just., for the lower Income Tax. The energy providers and ISP's know you have more disposable income :-))0

We don't have more disposable income. It's very expensive to live here and my husband earns less than £20,000. I think the reason they charge so much is because they know they can - there is nobody else to go to! Having said that I don't fancy living in the UK - too many people for my liking. I enjoy the quiet life.0

Luckily I don't get to see very many of them. Most of them tend to stay in Douglas and spend most of their time watching the races (z z z z z - boring!). In the south we are relatively free of them thank goodness. The population of the island does double during TT week though, but isn't so bad with all the other bike races which go on.0
