I guess I could just change it and go Ex-directory.
    How would that help?

You have already given them your number, haven't you?

I think they are entitled to keep your number as long as you owe them money.

What is the purpose of wanting to have your number removed??

    I simply can't grasp it.

If they are plaguing you will calls about "other services" then I can see why, and I am sure there is a mechanism to be removed from their "adverts".

If I owed £50k to anyone and was paying regularly, I would WANT them to have a quick and easy method of contacting me.

If the Direct Debit bounced or got otherwise held up, I would WANT them to call me in an instant before incurring missed payment markers.

I would be nervous at this request if I were First Plus, first remove the phone number, then ignore the post.
Next thing the borrower has disappeared.

Or look at it another way, if you have not paid them then do they not have the rite to chase the payment?

OP from reading some of your other posts it sounds as if you really are up to your neck in it just now.

I just can't see how having your number removed will help. But good luck hope you get yourselves straightened out.

    Are you really serious?

Of course I am, why do you even think I am not.

I just posted another one today, this one in Aberdeen, so the post mark will not be my usual one so they will be even more confused.

Some people are so serious, believing everything they see and read on the internet. Lighten up!
