Another huge Annabel Karmel fan.
Recipes for all the family. Would especially recommend "Feeding your baby and toddler" and "New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner".
I still use them now and my son is nearly 5. The pineapple, raisin and carrot muffins are to die for!:hello:0 -
All my 4 love roast dinners pureed, just made a like extra each time i did a roast and freezed it.
Also they all loved pizza as a finger food, and digestive bics with milk.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Apparently two things my parents often gave me were avocados and herring milts, both nice and soft and full of protein. They never bought baby food, they used to put stuff through a mouli-mill for me.0

Hello everyone,
My little boy will be 6 months old in a little over a months time. He is just about ready to be weaned onto proper food. I made a terrible mistake with my daughter when I started weaning her. Initially I gave her things like Petit Felous and other sweet things....BIG MISTAKE because after that getting her to eat vegetables took almost 4 years.
What puurees would be best to start with?
Do you recommend blending a vegetable and fruit together?
Will batch cooking and freezing the same dish into ice cube trays be okay? I have a steam steriliser and the ice trays won't fit inside it to be sterilised.
Is it best to give him a spoon of the same puree for atleast a week before moving on? Will one meal a day for a week be enough to start with?
I'm on the prowl for a good hand blender so I hope to get myself sorted out and some food prepared by Tuesday with him having his first taste test on Wednesday....
Thanks again for all the help I have received on here0 -
on hand blenders i noticed tesco have one for a tenner,
my friend also did the petit filous thing, her ds is still hooked but now does eat veg and is surprisingly fond of broccoli (?)
i know my mum said she just blended up a little of whatever her and dad were having and gave that to usNonny mouse and Proud!!

id try him on single purees first, like carrots, swede, etc. once he gets use to one taste try mixing 2 or 3 together like, potato, carrots and brocolli. etc. try on fruit purees aswell like apple, pear, mango etc maybe mix with a bit of baby rice. if you cant get a blender boil til soft and push through a sieve with the back of a spoon. banana is also a good one. try one meal a day when he is happy and not starving for his milk, then when he gets use to the purrees introduce it at another meal time. then gradually work up to 3 meals a day with desserts. as for sterilizing ice cube trays , personally i would not bother as long as its clean. if he`s not already he will soon be crawling on the floor putting everything in his mouth, you can sterilize everything can you. hope this helps x.One day I will live in a cabin in the woods0

I wouldn't use swede as a first food, it is too strong a taste and might also make him windy.
Butternut squash is a good first food as it is bland and makes a smooth puree. Sweet potato is also good to start with.
I don't think you need to wait a whole week before introducing a new food but it is a good idea to introduce one thing at a time, that way you can tell if one food causes a problem. Banana always made my son very sick.
I wouldn't worry about steralising the food pots, I never did.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -

hello there, might i suggest you have a look at the website 'baby led weaning' havnt worked out how to put links on here yet.
even if yu dont want to do it there isa lot of insight into baby eating.
my grandaughter was brought up on this and she is two, theres not a healthier, happy baby in the world. its hard work but worth it..make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Hi just - just started weaning baby number 3 myself, just to add to confirm what other people have said really. Try single purees first (if it is a strong taste like brocolli then mix it with a little baby rice and milk at first) once you are sure that your little one likes the taste and it doesn't cause any problems for them then you can prepare ice cubes of the food - don't sterilise just make sure it is very clean. Don't do what my health visitor did and go all out on one recipe before you have tried it on the baby - she ended up throwing away a whole batch of Annabel Karmens sweet potato with cinnamon recipe; waste of time and money.0
