dsl down?

posting this on behalf of my mum i cant help no idea about computers really sooo the problem is her computer is going properly but message appears when she connects saying YOUR DSL IS DOWN hmm what can she do to sort it out any help greatly appreciated!
She has just got bt broadband

yes she has got it up and running for about the last week it jsut today that suddenly she got this message. thanks for the help guys she said she is going to wait til tomorrow we had a storm last nite maybe something to do with it they live in the middle of nowhere practicallyalways seems to effect them thanks everyone!

welll thanks browntoa checked out the service status in the area etc nothing wrong there! phoned up bt techie help and hung up fuming! ringing on behalf of my mum i told the gentleman who couldnt understand me and i couldnt understand him that i was not at the computer itself but i told him what system it was how many lights were on her hub what colour the hub was and all the info he needed but there was a break down in communication somewhere because i just had to keep repeating myself and kept telling him that i wasnt at the computer and maybe i should get my mother to ring instead so she can do it herself whith someone on the line telling her what to do instead if it was easier i was just trying to help as she asked me to ring for her wish i never did now cost a fortune and got nowhere!
