Clarks school shoe's appointments

I don't know if this is a new thing, as it's our 1st year of needing school shoes but clarks offer an appointment system now for fitting shoes. We went in a few weeks ago to get dd measured when it was quieter, they didn't have a single pair that fitted so I ordered 6 pairs online, for delivery to our local store. Went in on Friday to get them but it was mobbed so made an appointment for fitting this morning & we were seen straight away. Overheard a few people talking saying they had been waiting since 9.15 (this was at 10past 10:eek:)
Simply call the Customer Care team on 08444 995544 to book a time that's convenient for you. And the list of stores that do appointments is here
I know what a headache it can be getting kid's shoes & this really helped.

I so wish they had done this when my kids were small - it was always rather terrifying going for a shoe fitting, mainly because of the lengthy and fretful wait beforehand!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

I know, the thought of having to sit in Clarks with dozens of kids who would rather be elsewhere for over an hour is awful, I do pity the staff, they really earn there wages in the lead up to the start of term. I wonder if they get a bonus, doubt it.

mine have just grown out of Clarks but we always used to go just before the end of the summer term (mid July) when the new ranges were in but there were no queues. After school rather than Saturday morning best. HTH (in future). Of course if child at an age when feet growing fast best not do this!

As a new(ish) employee to a certain shoe shop, I've seen how busy the place can be and the back to school period has only just started.
At the minute Clarks are giving out 'trumps cards' to keep kids entertained during the wait.

One tiny thing that could help save a few seconds is to turn up with socks! This ensures a better fit and looks better than pop socks :-)

A tip I've read recently on another thread (don't know who posted) about labelling items for school included labelling the shoes as there are a few styles which are more popular than others and many times today I heard, "My friend x has got those ones."

think I'd of been in the same store as you but my visit was last Monday morning ( down from the wellgate ) - was there an hour  the girl who served us couldn't of been nicer and I do feel for the staff at this time of the year, my nerves would be in tatters :lipsrseal

Monday just gone? You might have said hello:rotfl: it was so busy, glad we got sorted though, wouldn't fancy it next week. The staff are really good in there aren't they.
Schools in our area start back in 2 weeks, know it's later in other part's of the UK, just in case others are wondering what the fuss is about as there is still a month to go.

I think it will be, Violetta. I've been to the one in Kirkcaldy and it's pretty good!
Funnily enough, I was also in the Dundee Clark's store this week and when I asked about making an appointment I was told catagorically that they were not doing them this year!! I was offered a ticket and an estimate of the time I'd wait 70-80 mins- pffft, I left.
Perth's Clarks was empty yesterday morning (but I was without my son) and I was told the best way to do it all in one go is to order the estimated size (or a couple to make sure) online (my son is picky and only likes one style - same one for the last 3 years). You'll get a text when they are in store and you then phone for an appt to collect them.
I don't know how well this will work, but watch this space.

    It's only a game
