Windscreen repair before sell car

I would like to hear your opinion on repairing a cracked windscreen before selling the car. I have a 53 Mondeo with 86k miles so worth about £2K. My insurance has a £75 windscreen excess so would I get more than that when selling. Or would it just make the car more saleable?
TIA

I think a car with a good windscreen would sell easier and for more than one with a broken screen.
For a start anyone getting it done on their windscreen cover would be committing insurance fraud as the screen was broken at the start of the policy, a broken windscreen would make the car look uncared for (what else is wrong with it mindset), and people wouldn't want the hassle of sorting it out themselves.0 -
My policy offers free windscreen repairs to damage, crafty worded to make you think this includes 'replacement' which it does not, there is a £75 excess charge, more than my policy excess on a claim!!!
Which is £00 -
I wouldn't touch it as a buyer. Get it fixed before selling.0

Do you mean it needs replacing?
You say repairing in your post which is something different, just had mine repaired and it cost £10 excess (stone chip cracked glass)
If it needs replacing then it wont pass the next MOT anyway which will drive the price down0 -
Windscreen heaters on Mondeos increase the cost of a whole windscreen, get it fixed or you'll not sell it for anything near £2k ( even that seems a bit high for 86k, imho)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -
2k isnt high for a 86k mondy.. about right tbh.. and get the screen replaced/reapired mate.. plenty of moondogs out there if you dont for the buyer to chooseSealed pot challenger # 10

Yes repairing or replacing will make the car more saleable, however a chip or crack in a windscreen is not automaticaly a fail point, my car has been through 2 MOTs with a 30mm crack in the windscreen, it passed because it is less than 40mm and not in the field of vision, in my case it is not repairable so no point doing anything till it get worse.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Bear in mind that although a windscreen claim doesn't usually affect NCD, you still have the claim on your record (and must disclose it if changing insurer), and could affect your future premium for years to come).
(Swiftcover is one company that I know of that do affect your NCD for a windscreen claim - no NCD is awarded by them for the year in which a windscreen claim is made)0 -

I've had a few windscreens replaced on insurance, it's never affected my NCD, however with the internet and comparison sites it may be the price of acpeting the cheapest quote, perhaps it now pays to look before you leap.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
If I claim on my policy it does not affect my maximum no claims (10 years
) although, to my understanding some insurers do have different terms on this - so worth a read of your policy book
Good luck selling it OP0
