    hahahaha your having a laugh.

They are 8 years old and you havent had need to use them for 6 years. I would say the insurers offer is more than generous and if you took it to court a court would give you far less for 8 year old sofas.

Also to add sofa values havent appreciated and therefore I think you will find sofas are actually cheaper these days. You can thank the DFS and Harvey sales for this. Suspect you would even end up with cash in your pocket.

It is very unlikely that a court would award you the new price of sofas that were bought in 2002, they are likely to take into account wear and tear.

It would also be fairly unusual for them to award inflation on the amount unless the current new cost of the items has increased in line with inflation.

Are they bespoke or high end sofas ?

Assuming they are normalish sofas then the amount they have offered you is about the right amount

Minimum we would want is the what we paid for the furniture which was £2200 but with inflation at todays prices it would be nearer to £3000 like for like. Insurance only offering £1800 (£250 of which is the excess that we'll have to get from the storage company anyway). So would be looking for £400 to £1200; but if I've got to go to court then I may as well try and claim back the storage fees as well as they really haven't been storing anything!!

If they're 2002, you would be laughed out of court and hit with court expenses.

The insurance offer is MORE than fair! Plus furniture hasn't gone up in price, it's actually gone DOWN in price and become much cheaper.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Wrong, our sofa chair broke last year. Suite bought in 2001 was £585. We got back £685 for the chair, got a new settee suite and still have old settee.

Your insurance may well have been new for old though?
Maybe Mrs Snowbits isn't stupid? ;)
  • Was your policy new for old? Issue still ongoing......
