Please, anybody who is thinking of using Money Supermarket.com to obtain best car insurance quotes, this thread is for you!!!

I used the Money Supermarket site to source the best price car insurance quotes when i wanted to place my learner driver son on my cars policy in may. After using the site, recommended by Money Saving Expert, Its4me, an insurance broker based in Norwich, contacted me by phone with by far the best price.I told them that the details they had on file were incorrect and they said this was a common problem with the Money Supermarket site but that we could easily correct any mistakes. After correcting everything they still came up with a cheap price and i told them again this could not be right!.
After several assurances and more checks over the next few days that everything was correct, and i had nothing to worry about,i took out a policy with them with Provident as the insurers.Documents were received and all seemed well until i had a letter from Its4me 2 weeks ago asking for confirmation about the number of cars in the household.I phoned and told them it was still the same as when i obtained the quote,4 in total, they said that they had on record only 1 so they would update their files.I asked if it would have any bearing on my insurance and was told that there would be none!
However a week later a recorded delivery letter arrived from Its4me informing me that the insurers had cancelled the policy as they had quoted the original price based on only the 1 car in the household.I phoned Provident who said that my son could have accesss to the other cars but as i pointed out he would be no more likely to drive an uninsured car than go down the road and commit any other crime!.They then confirmed to me that Its4me were the ones at fault and that i,like alot of others, were losing out.
I have now taken out a policy with another insurer who kept telling me when i asked for assurance that he had the correct number, that it makes no difference how many cars are in the household!!!
Its4me have looked for an excuse to get out of my inurance policy due to their own failings,i assume there are others in the same boat-please let me know.
Anyone thinking of using Its4me,please don,t., I phoned them for an explanation, told someone would phone, but they have not!

  • What on earth difference does it make how many cars a household owns? Especially when you can't park anywhere and they can be as far as 1/2 mile apart parked.

If they'd asked that in my old student house the standard response would have been, None of your business!

I insure my car for me and for my own use. Anyone else can drive their's across fields for all I care.
