I think my email is being used for spam.

Does anyone know how to stop this???

Over the last few days I have been getting failed delivery reports to email addresses I have never seen before and certainly haven't tried to send an email to. I'm not sure how it all works, is it possible that my account is being used to forward :spam:? :eek:

If so does anyone know how to stop it? I've tried searching my email providers website (yahoo.co.uk) but the only info I found was that if I receive spam to forward it to abuse and the account would be closed down, no info on what to do if I suspect my account is forwarding spam.

No there is no way to stop it. THe spam isn't coming from your account, the spammers are simply using your address as the return address in the from field.

Giddytimes, I agree with superscraper on what's happening to you. I've been getting the same thing for a few months now. There have been a few threads on this forum and the consensus seems to be there is nothing you can really do about it. I do think its been getting worse over the past couple of months but it's only when the net actually grinds to a halt under the weight of spam that something will be done about it.

yes its bl**dy annoying, I get maybe 20 per day. Worst thing is some people think I am actually sending this stuff.

If that username is your real email address, then that could be a contributing factor.., as is having your help email address on the website.

Yes, never have you email address as your user id on any forum/website. Ask the Admin people at MSE if they can edit it to remove the "offending bits". That's what I do whenever someone registers on my site and accidentally uses their email address as their user id.
