Europcar was the place we looked at first for the quote. I think it was the cheapest! I have still got to get someone to give me a hand with moving all my stuff up there, so I may have to take that route of hiring people to do it for me!Became Mrs C on 14th of August 20100

Fuel-wise my SWB transit (ford) does 600+ miles a tankfull, so expect a one way trip to cost around £50 for fuel.0

Hey, we're in now and been here 2 weeks tomorrow.
They wouldn't pay for first move - they do in the army (bro in law is moving into MQ's Wednesday and he had his paid for) but RM's won't! We're in now anyways, and all sorted!
Thanks for your help though guys!Became Mrs C on 14th of August 20100 -
It may be different in the RM, although i think its the same JSP, but I am in the RAF and the RAF will not pay for you to set up a home (thats the wording used!) - they will pay for your first move after training - there is a difference and you have to explain this to them! So they will pay if you have rented or whatever in the past.
Some of my friends in the army had a concurrent phase 2 course and had the response of 'we dont pay for your first move' so as you can see with your brother in the army - its hit and miss as to how they interpret the wording.
I had lived on my own before I went into training - having entered pretty late! At the end of training I was posted and moved into rented accommodation off site.
IF you move as a result of posting you are entitled to:
1) disturbance allowance (~£1k if to ANY property other than in the mess, so that includes MQs, rented, mortgaged property)
2) petrol covering the drive to your new place (the amount paid is going down every year!)
3) UKPASH covering the cost of the hire of a van (to the value of around £250). OR you can ask the RAF to book your move with a local company, I think at public expense...although I'm not sure on that bit - all you have to do is put your stuff out i.e. get out stuff in the cabinets on the side, and the removals company will box it up and get you there and unpack onto the sides in your new place!
I moved in three months before my posting date, but did the move ONLY because I was posted. But you have to get the new station to sign the forms, provide copies of CTAX, rental agreements etc, and I think you can put in a retrospective claim for a short time after - have to go through your HR administrator for some of the above tho rather than JPA (although you can do disturbance on there...).
I think it may be too late for the post originator but for anyone in future - all my claims came to around £1500 then there's any HTD payments if you're living off site...0
