Query regarding Santander £100 cashback offer

Anyone aware of the fineprint regarding the conditions under which the £100 cashback offered by Santander, for new current account opening, will be given?
They say that at least one direct debit should be active and paid within 11 weeks. But then elsewhere they use the term 'using our dedicated switching service'. So if someone opens an account and then set up the direct debit themselves on the account, will he/she be eligible for the £100 cashback or not?
My spouse does not have any direct debits on her existing current account. If she opens a Santander account, we can arrange to set up one of our utility bills direct debit on her account but we obviously cannot use the switching team as this direct debit does not exist on her previous account. So will she be eligible for the £100 cashback?

OK. So looks like some more hard work required to have my spouse qualify for the £100. I'll first switch one of my direct debits to her existing account and then have Santander's switching team switch that to the new Santander account..0 -

Keep a dummy current account with a dormant credit card/savings account DD on it.
That way, when these offers come along you're straight in.0 -

Have a look and see if milk&more are in your area. You can set up an account with a d/d really easy. Was on my hubby's account within a couple of days when he did it.
Then when the new Santander a/c is up and running, order something like a pint of milk to make the d/d active (think they claim 20th mthly), get your payout incentive and cancel d/d. They only claim if you order.

Meant to say does forget cashback site eg Topcashback. For opening this Santander a/c they 'pay' £35 on top of the £100 Santander give you. :T0 -
with all the news about how bad Santander's customer service is and the reliability of the DD service, I wonder whether its worth switching my Nationwide account over (DD there are mainly used for this kinda offers but is not a dormant DD)0

Hi,
Please does anyone know which of the current accounts Santander offer qualifies for the free £100?
Had a quick look at the offer on their website and they talk about four accounts:
Preferred in Credit
Reward
Zero
Premium current account
But they say that the Reward and the Premium current account have "account fees" - presume this is a monthly charge which we don't really want. Which is the best account to open MAINLY to achieve the £100 incentive as we will keep another main current account elsewhere.
Also, Quidco are offering £35 cashback - if you open through Quidco will you also get the £100 from Santander?
Many thx and apols if these have been done to death somewhere else.... I'm late getting on this bandwagon...0 -
Hi there,
I have a question. OK so on my creditexpert it says I started my account on 10th July and I've waited ever since for my £100. When I first got the account details it said it had transferred one direct debit across so I'm assuming I've done it all correct. This direct debit though is an annual one and I've no intention of using it again until next march - so does this mean I've lost my incentive? I have other DD which I set up after the switch and have used them but now I'm just confused.
Can anyone help?? I didn't actually start putting the money into the account until the 28th July so I'm not sure if it goes from that date.
HELP (SANTANDER IS RUBBISH)!!0 -
Ok so i can transfer over 3 DD's and just pay in £1000 by BACS every month to qualify or does it have to be a salary mandate ??
Thanks0 -

I think you'll need to transfer both DDs and SOs to them and you don't need to set up a salary mandate. The DD has to be active (sent at least 1 payment) before 11 weeks.
Last time when I visited Santander branch, I was informed that I'll need to transfer at least 2 mandates (DD and SO) to qualify for the £100 incentive.

I'm doubting I'll qualify for the £100 cashback now but any comments on this case:
- Paypal DD setup on dummy account.
- Used Santander's switching service.
- Paypal sent me an email saying account closed, removed bank account link. End of story, don't contact us for anything as it's my bank's problem.
- A couple of weeks later, Santander say they have done all they need to do but are still waiting on Paypal and that I should contact Paypal to sort it out.
- I setup a new DD from Paypal to Santander account (new reference but same company). Impossible to change old one as account was already removed by Paypal.
- Payment made to Paypal by direct debit.
The point being, Santander's switching service failed to transfer my direct debit and I had to do it manually. Only 1 month into it with Santander but any payout here?0
