Can anyone recommend a trustworthy site where I can get 2 tickets for an Old Trafford match?
My father in law is a lifelong Man U supporter but has only ever been to see them play once. I was hoping to get 2 tickets for him and my other half to go as a surprise for his 70th birthday , but none of us are supporters and need pointed in the right direction. Is it true they are as uncommon as Rocking Horse S***e or will I have to pay tons?
All help gratefully accepted. Thanks B

It may not be as cheap to do it as part of a package but it's safe and you know you've got tickets. General sale isn't easy, you have to beat the season ticket, fan club etc etc. Risking the touts means you have no idea what you're buying and while I could quite legitantely sell you a theatre ticket I now didn't want, the law forbids sale of football tickets in the same way. You may have to settle for a game against one of the smaller teams - the chances of getting to see them against Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc will be much less than against Wolves for example (sorry Wolves fans!!)0

Tickets are available for most games direct from club.

For example Newcastle United (1st match of season - but on a monday evening) £54 adults non members, £25 over 65's.
After that try http://www.viagogo.co.uk/manutd (once the season starts).
Exhaust these before you buy from a tout or go down the hotel route (unless of course you need to stay).
I should add that the hospitality ticket sales have been slow this year - and you may get a bargain for one of the lesser matches.
There were plenty of tickets on Viagogo for the Liverpool match last year at just over face value.0 -
Thanks for this info folks - as I said, its all foreign territory to me. :TI'd forgotten that over 65's may be eligible for a discount - thanks for pointing that out tincans - I might have missed that one
.
We are from the Lake District, so near enough to drive home after a day match hence Id rather not tie into accommodation deals and to be honest I never expected to get near a top flight fixture like Liverpool so we're not bothered who they are playing as long as its at Old Trafford - that being part of the event for him.:)
I'm very grateful for your help on this

Bear in mind that if you go for an evening match it can take upto 1.5hrs to get back unto the motorways. Local traffic control has no concept in getting 70k people away from the stadium in a timely fashion.0

For tickets for Newcastle and West Ham are on General Sale so maybe buying direct is not a bad thing,0

Manchester United's "waiting list" has been something of a myth for many years. Certainly if you've got a membership, getting tickets is rarely an issue - even for the bigger games. Smaller games regularly go on general sale.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Thanks for everyone's help - got tickets for the West Ham game through a friend who is a member. Big meal tonight for FIL's 70th - hope he loves them . Cheers again, Barb0
