L&G UK Property Trust - advice/info please

I normally find it a bit annoying & pointless when people post questions they could easily research the answers to themselves - so I apologise in advance for the following ...

Background - I already have a basic monthly DD purchase with L&G for their UK Index, UK 100 & Ethical Trusts so as an established customer the following sems interesting. They offer their UK Property Trust at NIL initial fees for online purchases which seems very good. The total annual fees are given as 1.25% + 0.52%. The 'extras' figure seems high but I can not really compare the 1.77% total unless I know where to check out this aspect of similar funds. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Is the annual figure of 1.77% unacceptably high? Regardless of others' opinion of L&G it seems a reasonable purchase to me.

In addition I must add that a further phone call to L&G produced the same garbled and uninspiring 'help' that I have grown accustomed to. Thankfully their online system works just fine.

Thank you for that link. I shall keep that for future reference.

I was able to locate the L&G fund under 'specialist' funds but it didn't show UK Property as a separate section - nor did it actually show a TER for the L&G fund although I knew that from the L&G site.

Property funds run additional costs which are not present in stockmarket based funds. To be a bit more is expected and totally normal.

    Compare property unit trusts here

Most of them are new. Some of them invest in proprerty shares as opposed to buildings and will thus be more volatile.

If you have a private pension, you may well find it is better to invest in property funds via that route, rather than via unit trusts, if it is available.
Most of the decent property funds are run by the insurers.

You could then use your unit trust/ISA allowance for equity based funds from fund managers, who do a better job usually than insurers.

Horses for courses, so to speak.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
