    I suppose having asked the original question I should say what has happened.

    I had wanted to buy the Dell 1764 because it had an i5 processor, 4 meg memory and a 500 Hard Drive, the only thing putting me off was Dell's price of over £700, it was way out of my budget range.

    While searching for a machine with the same speck I happened to land on the PC World site and discovered that they were selling the Dell 1764 at £599.97. I contacted PC World and asked if it was the same speck, or different from that advertised on the Dell website, they confirmed that it was the exact same speck.

    So with over £100 saved I bought from PC World

    That must be the very first time that I've heard of anyone who was pleased by buying from PC World!

    Being the cynic that I am, I'd be interested just how thoroughly you compared the two specifications. It would amaze me that PC World and Dell could both make money from something which Dell (only) makes money on by selling direct. But I have been known to be wrong...!

    They may be pleased when buying, but it's when it goes wrong that the sh*t hits a brickwall. :D

    http://www.dmxdimension.com/ shows Inspiron 17, i5,4GB ram and 500GB HD vary from £689 -> £799.
    Variation is due to the different spec i5s, many seem to assume that all i5s are equal.

    Dell Inspiron

    PC World Inspiron

    So well done OP!!! :beer:
    Move along, nothing to see.
