How much for 2 garden gates

How much do you think is reasonable to be charged by a tradesman to erect 2 x wooden 6ft garden gates?

The gates would be fitted to the side of a house with a fence on the other side.

Nothing fancy, just basic garden gates.

Thanks.

I had the same work done plus one fence panel replaced and it was about £330 in Milton Keynes a couple of years ago.

The price did make me cringe a bit at first but he did use very good quality materials and did a superb job.

Decent quality gates aren't that cheap really but you can get far cheaper ones then what we got.
  • My friend is having something similar done and had 3 quotes, they were all around £500. In London of course.
  • We have recently had gates put at the side of our house to block direct access to the rear of the property.
I am not sure if you wonder about price of fitting or gates plus fitting:
we got in touch with Cannock gates when they had a half price deal on and would have been around £350 for gates with rounded top; Then we shopped around the local sawmills and got made to measure gates ( shaped to be rounded at top) all the fittings( posts, hinges, latch etc etc ) and delivery for £360. They are really lovely solid gates (better than I dared hope) and a good price.

My OH fitted them and it took about 4 hours (he had to cut a channel in wall to fix posts) to fix and hang them (adjustments etc) Not sure what labour would cost, but we live in OXon so not cheapest area.

Got a quote yesterday from a local reputable firm for £200 to supply and fit custom made gates.

    So, I'm happy with that.

    Thanks everyone for replying.
