MBNA have raised credit limit without request

Will this affect my mum's credit rating?

They've upped it by £1k, the card is just about to come out of a 0% period

If we ask them not to do this - will it affect the credit rating?

Any advice appreciated.

  • Shouldn't make that much difference. MBNA usually offer people high balances..

No it will not have any adverse affect, will more likely enhance it.

MBNA love revolvers those he keep borrowing and increasing their debt, they did this with my wifes card kept increasingly it from £2000 to £18,000 even though she never once failed to clear the full balance every month, and she was a retired old age pensioner all the time she held it???.

Told them to shove it in the end.

It's the oldest trick in the world keep increasing the muppets limit and suck them into a merry go round of deb, Biggest back street hucksters and loan sharks in the credit card world.

We are moving (hopefully) the money left on it to a 0% card at the end of October anyway.

So tell them to stick it? She has several credit cards already and we are trying to improve her credit limit to get a better loan later next year

Instead of telling them to stick it why not call them and ask them to stop increasing it. They can do this no problems. And MBNA are one of the few companies that will offer low interets rates for BT's if you ask them too. So would be better in my opinion to keep the card.
