Two strange problems - Sony Laptop

No.1 This is a problem on some pages but not all.At the top of this page where, in small print, it says "Please exercise caution & report etc" the printing overlaps the space where it says Welcome,Jake'sGran etc" and at the bottom of the page the fine black writing overlaps all the Blue text.

No.2 When I click File...New Page I cannot type anything in the search box for about five minutes or more and nothing on the page can be moved. New Tab works OK.
Any ideas what is going on here.

I did post about the first problem some time ago but the suggestion made did not put things right.

    Hi,

    is this what you mean:

    mse.jpg

I've had it for some time now, so don't think it is your lappy, something amiss with MSE.

Are you using new look or old look, I'm on old look, as the whole page on new look is askew.

What resolution are you running? It looks fine on mine (1920*1080)

Yes, macdugal, that's it. I didn't know there was a new look. I'll go see what I can find.

You will be using the 'new look' unless you have deliberately reverted back to the old look in your User CP.

What is your display resolution set to?
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:
  • Hi,

my resolution is 1440 x 900, which seems to be the max for my Samsung R710, Vista Home Premium.

It's not that, changed mine to yours & still looked ok
  • Hi,

thanks, it only happened round about the time the new look was launched, and that's another problem, the page for it is all askew, there was a thread on it weeks ago.

It appears fine for me. I don't think it is the display resolution otherwise the surrounding content wouldn't be in proportion as it appears to be now.

What browser and operating system are you using? Knowing your display resolution could help eliminate it as a possibility though. Press CTRL button and the 'R' key to do a refresh of the page, and try clearing internet cache and cookies as a precaution. You can also check that the browser is using the default font styles and not overriding anything.

  • Hi,

I'm using FF 3.6.8, Vista home premium, it's only on the Forum pages, all other MSE pages are fine.

It's ok in IE 8, even the new look displays ok.

Hello, not read one of your posts for ages.
Screen resolution at present is 1280x800.

Posting another problem in a minute about an instruction disk from Dell where, on one page, it is not possible no how, to get to the bottom where I am meant to click "NEXT".
