Getting non recorded parcels left when no one is in

Hi,
I have very recently became aware through using the various postal delivery services that if you are expecting a delivery and you know that you may not be in when it comes and may possibly have to take a trip to the sorting office between x z and z times - which can be a few miles to travel - then when not try this little experiment on the postal delivery services and see if you get more parcels left in you garden area rather than taken back to the depot.
Try addressing the receiving parcel in the name of a lady of the house if possible, as I have noticed that there is more chance of a delivery driver leaving a parcel - in your bin behind your back gate, as an example, with a nice message through your door informing you where he/she found a safe place to conseal your parcel for you on your return - but from my observations this trusting gesture does not happen as often if the parcel is addressed to a man, I wonder why?
So I reckon if you are receiving parcels daily and you are out missing them at times, simply by using a lady's name of the house could save you a few miles in transport costs day after day.
Also without knowing it at first you could possibly be taking an unsuspecting first step in beating over inflated, over taxed $british$ government fuel prices at the same time by not needing there fuel to drive out of town in some cases to locate the sorting office.
Hope you can get more deliveries when your out as I do now.

Hehe, I wish
My postman was feeling lazy one day and didn't try too hard to get my contact lenses through the door. (Note: I subscribe to Contact Lenses By Post, which come in special boxes designed to go through letter boxes... sigh...)
Guess who had to trudge up to the sorting office on a cold winter evening... and yes, I'm of the female persuasion
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
mine leaves mine on the front doorstep, it FULL view of the whole street from about anywhere from 7.30 to 1pm, when I come home for lunch...0
