Which Washing machine advice needed

Hi,

Going to be buying a washing machine shortly and need some advice on whats best.

I live alone so don't have an enormous amount of washing, however often have stay over guests so machine needs to be capable of a reasonable load. Is 1000 or larger speed best?

Make and warranty is useful advice i guess, some makers seem to offer extended warranties inc in price of machine - are they worth it?

Any help most welcome

The faster it spins the more water it will remove so the quicker your clothes will dry. Perhaps go for a standard size drum but make sure it has a good half load option for when you only have a bit of washing.

It partly also depends on your budget. I went for a Bosch as they were well reviewed in Which, and I'm pleased with it. But others will also have their own favourites.

Very much depends what you are washing.

When I am washing shirts I use a low spin (400) and hang the shirts up wet, makes ironing very easy!

When washing towels / sheets etc, then I spin them at 1200, meaning they go into the tumble drier only slightly damp.

I recently replaced my troublesome Indesit with a budget "Technolec" and it works very well - especially given the low (~£200) price tag.

My washing machine broke down last week and I was in a quandry about what to replace it with and getting good terms to pay it back over.

I have an account with Very and thought I'd check there. I've ordered a Beko washing machine from them which they had on offer reduced from £349.99 to £249.99, 1400 spin speed, 7 kg load. Has a good review from Which and what's more I've got it on buy now pay next July, excellent. Due to be delivered on Tuesday so I will have a new toy to play with.

I'd go for either the lowest price miele or a bosch. I'd also want at least a 1200 speed option.

Theres lots of good washing machine advice on the UK WHITEGOODS site.

The bit about spin speeds makes interesting reading.

I've had lots of washing machines over the years...(6 kids)!....The one I've got now is by far the best..A lower priced Bosch. When my last washing machine broke...and was gonna cost too much to fix...I asked the repair man what he would recommend.....he said Bosch every time....he was right...I've had no problems...and have had it four years and do at least two loads most days.
