XP pc crashing

Hi!
My son's elderly XP based PC keeps crashing / hanging up when he's using it. I've in the past stripped it right down, rebuilt it, virus / malware checked it, replaced components and it works fine for me.
Is there any application that can diagnose such problems or at least stress test the thing so I can recreate the problem?

why would you want to create the probelm?
usually if it hangs it is a memory error of some sort.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0 -
Hi!
I've checked the memory using memtest86 (I think it was called.)
I want to recreate it so I can replace components one by one and when it stops failing then I know what the faulty component is! :-)

Messenger, word and championship manager mostly and he can't recreate the problem on demand either - sometimes it's fine for a few days and at other times it's hanging every 20 minutes....
