eBay Fraud

I purchased an item off of eBay and it never arrived, as i paid through Paypal i submitted a dispute and received £11 back from my total outlay of £26. I know it's not a lot but it still makes me mad that people out there are just taking others for a ride.

I have found alot out about the seller, i just need to confirm his address, but he's 18 and lives in Newcastle and i've managed to make contact with him a couple of times and he always promises that he'll do this and that, but nothing ever arrives. He also changed his phone number trying to avoid me.

Now the debt stands at £15, do i take him to the small claims court online https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp
this will cost me £35 and will it get me any where. It'll increase my loses to £50.

Does anyone have any better ideas.

I've thought about purchasing a domain name and advertising his fraud online like a big wanted poster, to warn other and to shame him.

  • I think that if you win through small claims you get the £35 back (or he has to pay it or something)

Also, report his ebay ID for incorrect contact details as he's 'changed his number'
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

He has a lot to lose if you do go to small claims court - when you win and he still doesn['t pay you will get a country court judgement and he will never get a loan or mortgage in the future!
  • OK, thanks for that, i may try that route then.
  • We'll thanks to this site, i took the seller to the online court which was posted on this forum - https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp

It cost me £30 and i received a postal order from the seller this week for the full amount including the court costs - nice one and thank you!

Also i'm now using this toolbar all the time, which was posted on here http://www.auctiontypostoolbar.com/ - very useful!
