Oh dear...... I do feel old now:(:(:(:(:(:(

It's a drink from the 70s, sf, made with something disgusting called advocaat (a dutch liqueur made of eggs and other stuff, very yellow) which was mixed with lemonade and served in a wine glass with a glace cherry on a stick on top of the glass. And yes, it did taste as disgusting as it sounds. Would you like one?:D:D

I still get wierd looks from folks when I say I don't drink anymore - especially those I've known a long while as they know I wasn't the one in the household who had a problem with the stuff.

I just decided I could do without it, that it was an expensive 'hobby' (not that my crafting isn't if I decide to do a 'bit' of shopping), and that I didn't need to risk ending up driving after I'd had even one (all it took to make me squiffy as I drank so little/infrequently) and I never knew when I was going to get a call from DD to take GD1 to an out-of-hours doctor or A&E as she has a (mild) kidney problem.

Haven't said I'll never drink again, as I'd almost certainly partake in a toast at a major event (graduation/wedding) for one of my kids - but that's all I ever intend have one for in future.

Found a bottle of Champers tucked away last week - it was a Christmas pressie from my immediate neighbours last year. Took it up to OHs last weekend and gave it to him...... he was well chuffed with it, and he's already had the bottle of wine I got from work.

At least I've got somewhere to pass it on to if I'm given any

But I suppose I should admit I was introduced to it long after it was the really 'in' thing - though you could still buy it ready mixed in small bottles at the time, which suited me better as the Advocaat used to go if before I finished a full bottle :eek:

Now there is very little alcoholic wise that I would not drink but I draw the line at snowballs - never had one ....... never fancied one ...... in other word ........ oh, what the heck - giz a glass - gulp ........ never have one again ........ yuk :eek:
