If you are looking for a great place to live and bring up your son, and don't mind travelling a fair way...have you thought about Orkney? My mother's family is all from (and still live) there and I lived in Kirkwall from the age of 2 to 6. We then moved south to Caithness, so not far, and a possibility if you want to stay on the Scottish mainland. I love the slower pace, and the wonderful scenery. Education is great, and housing is cheaper than England.

Thanks for the advice Keiss 21, unfortunatly my english Husband believes everywhere above Glasgow is the back of beyond!! I on the other hand would love to get back to my roots, though I think Orkney might even be too quiet for me.

Our annual trip to see family will tide me over and allow me to stock up on shortbread and tablet!!!!!

We are actually thinking of Norfolk, anyone got any advice?

    Hi Spoon,

I've got another NSD to declare, upto 7 now. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That's a shame. Didn't you try my wonderful way to spicy veg? I hope I wasn't wasting my time. :(

Do you ever go in the Firstbet betting shop on St George's Road?

Er no, don't have a slow cooker:o but it sounded delicious.

And er, no. Never been in one. Have you had a bad experience? I understand you're quite an afficionado on matched betting. Would like to try it myself but the GIOL thread is really scary..............

Not sure where you're from but Norwich is lovely. Yarmouth is quite commercialised as it is mostly holiday business (some might say tacky but each to their own). Anywhere in North Norfolk or between GY and Norwich will be quiet.

DH wants to live in 'the country' with no neighbours and a couple of acres of land. We are in a village just south of GY and we already live within 10 minutes walking time of open farmland, woods and free roaming cows and sheep! I couldn't see him living in a city. I did Sheffield for 2 yrs with work nearly 20! yrs ago and thoroughly enjoyed it but still came back so it can't be that bad.
Life is knowing which bridges to burn and which bridges to build!

Not sure whether I can class yesterday as an NSD or not? I ended up spending the grand total of 40p on a banana and 2 jam doughnuts, but this was for medicinal reasons !!! I just about blacked out at work at 3:30pm, and the only reason I could think of (thinking back over what I'd eaten in the previous 24 hours) was a low sugar count after my running.
:jcw18: well done for no 6, you’re doing great, keep going
I would class Friday as an NSD, the doughnuts and banana were for an emergency - can’t do much about that really. Hope you don’t have any further episodes like that:(

After a lot of soul-searching yesterday and today, I have decided to class Friday as an NSD. The banana and doughnuts weren't planned spends, nor Whoopsies that were too good a bargain to resist, not treats that 'jumped off the shelf' just 'cos I fancied them. Had I not been going straight to OH's from work, then I'd have been walking home - which I would have done at a slower pace than normal and raided biscuits/chocolates I have in the house. But I couldn't risk driving 30 miles in rush hour traffic (with about half of it on M-ways) without being sure I wasn't going to have another attack.

So Friday was number 6, Saturday was actually number 7, and today has been another NSD..... meaning I'm now at 8 :T

My spreadsheet indicates a D/Debit due out tomorrow (Council Tax, which normally goes out on 15th), so I must check what I need in the way of groceries and get that all sorted as well. After that I don't appear to have a D/Debit due out until 26th, but suspect I will need a grocery shopping day (for fresh bits) in the meantime.
