laptop with strange screen

Hopefully someone can help with this...

I have a toshiba M40x laptop and have found over the last week, the screen has started to do some strange stuff.
I have put a quick if in and found that if the hardware is accellerated then this is when the error happends. If I turn the accelleration off.....no screen freezing problem.

When the problem appears, it is like the screen makes everything all fuzzy, and if your really lucky even the blue screen of death appears. Dont ask me what it says, it is all garbled when it gets to that stage. All movement and commands on the system stop.

This can happen after 5 minutes or 5 hours, not consistant at all. I could take it back to the store (still within warrenty) and ask them to fix it. But so for I have tried the hardware accelleration thingy and updating the BIOS (the computer was already running the latest version)

Any help at all woulod be great
Rgds

You could check your DirectX hasn't been corrupted by

start -> Run -> and type dxdiag

Check that it doesn't report any problems and try running through the tests.

sounds like a graphics card probelm, but the screen may be out of focus. is it still in warenty is the next thing.

seems to be a few toshiba laptop probelms on the go at the moment.

  • the screen is not out of focus, it will be fine, perfect infact, then as you move the mouse over the scree, then the colours go like a static TV, but in colour.

Will try the directX when I get home...

    Cheers
