HELP
We are supposed to move out of our current property on 4 August.
We had originally found somewhere to move to but not the new property is no longer being let out, leaving us homeless. What can we do?
I know that the property we are in has not been let to anybody yet. Do you think it would be cheeky of us to ask if we can stay an extra month?
I would think that we are doing the landlord a favour. The property would be empty otherwise.
Would the landlord have to draw up a new contract or could it become a rolling contract?
We have already said that we were moving out. Does this void the previous contract?

Just ask if you can stay on for a month, if it's not been let he won't refuse ... and, in any case, technically he couldn't turf you out on the 4th anyway, but would need a court order/judge/paperwork/fees/bailiff ... which would take a couple of months.
No new agreement required, just stay on and pay the rent as per normal.
It is a nuisance when rentals fall through, so many landlords trying to rent places out before they're vacated .... and the agents won't commit/let you sign until the moment you're due to move in. Whole system's just stressful.0
