Wallpapered ceiling - how much prep is needed before replastering?

Hi, we have a ceiling which was wallpapered and which we are having skimmed on Monday.
My question is, we have spent ages stripping the ceiling - such a fun job - and it's pretty clean but there are a few tiny pieces of paper left (I'm talking millimetres) and some chipped paint.
Is it OK to plaster on top of this or do we need to do more prep?
