Each lenders credit scoring policies vary. Some of them tell you what they are, but they're not obligated in any way. OFT told me that one.

If you haven't applied yet, it may just be that they're trying not to offer new credit to anyone randomly due to the current economic difficulties.
If you try and are rejected then it's just a footprint on your credit record for 6 months. There won't be a note on it to say you were declined. So you're best bet is to apply.

Edit: Sorry I misread. That's unusual that they say it's not 'offering' you anything. Have you simply applied to get a credit card from them? You should be able to do so online. It may be that they're not offering, but that doesn't mean you can't apply

Are you saying you're sitting and waiting for something to be offered? Or have you applied and been declined?

Would you say you had a reasonable income paid into the account each month?
i hven't applied personally but when i asked them they checked it and said nothin is offered to me.

    Don't bother applying .

Ring up phonebank and they'll let you know if you are eligible. They can see if you can have one straight away.

Main reasons for not being eligible (the list is endless):

CPD marker - simax jump in here
    Credit file information
    Not enough history
    Bad history
    Missed payments
    Not enough money going in
    Average balance not high enough
Mismanaged Credit Cards in the past
    Fraud indicators

Every 21st of each month its updated.

    Good luck

Is that Lloyds TSB policy? I have a friend who is Polish - lived here for 2 years and has £13k of unsecured debts (loans, credit cards, etc)

Yes it is - what happened before the credit crunch is one of the reasons we had umm a credit crunch!

Fair enough. Just asking. Do you work for Lloyds? Is that not discrimination?

I was sure the recession was due to toxic debts in the housing market. But if it was actually immigrants then I'll get on to the Mail and might get a finder's fee for a story that has legs.

I think he was referring more to the fact the banks were generous with handing out cash rather than the fact it was to immigrants specifically!
