What could we do with this space..

Options
Can do pics if need be but don't think required!

Our washing machine is playing up a bit and dh suggested as the plumber is coming next week that we ask him to situate it in the garage with the tumble dryer to avoid any floods. It would allow some more space in the kitchen too but unsure what to do with the gap.

We have 2 options..option1 is to put the washing machine downstairs and have this gap, we can use this or put the dishwasher in it and use the space where the dishwasher was..both spaces are the width really of i guess an average washing machine..we can make the dishwasher one bigger though by removing a part of the end unit.

So fi you get what i mean what would you do with the space..dh has no ideas after his initial one! I thought of somehow housing the microwave to make more worktop space but dd thinks too low..any ideas?
Thanks

Have the dishwasher in whichever position is most accessible for plates/cup/cutlery storage. As for the space left, I could always use an extra cupboard myself.

Doesn't make too much difference with the dishwasher tbh so long as it can be easily plumbed in which i think it can BUt if not and it stays where it is then a cupboard is a good idea i just am not sure how we would get one in. The kitchen is Howdens and not sure we would get one matching cupboard to fit tbh.

We have the same dilemma and have decided to make an old fashioned larder/pantry cupboard for the gap. We are getting a standard kitchen base unit, lining it with insulation and fitting seals to the door. We will add a vent to outside with an insect screen and it should be a nice cool cupboard to store jam, sauces etc. that are currently cluttering our fridge. Only works if it on an outside wall, preferably north facing of course. Just an idea for all those things that need to be stored in a cool dry place.

If you cant get a cupboard to match, you could make a little curtain to cover the gap, on some curtain wire and use the space to hold buckets, hoovers etc, or even build shelfs in there.

How about putting a unit it but then having wicker basket 'drawers' for fruit and veg etc if you can't get a door to match...

We don't drink wine!! We had this random gap at the end of a cupboard when we moved in so built one of the wine cubby hole things in it..didnt last long before i took a shelf out and now it is used to store cookery books!

That's a criminal waste of wine storage but...do you have adequate pan storage? I have one of those stands for all mine but I'd prefer them 'away' if I could.

Or, have a shelf and your microwave on it and some open storage underneath that.

Ok so reflecting over the replies!

It is a newish kitchen so want whatever it is to match and be modern..

The curtain doesnt appeal and as much as i like the sound of the mesh fronted store cupboard i dont think it would look right. The wood side of it is tricky as i like things to match so would never tie in with our cupboards as they are a pearwood..cross between a beech and oak colour..the unit if it was would have to be black or metal..the wine cooler was my idea despite saying we dont drink wine but would use it for drinks not wine, although in the region of about £400 so not cheap for something just to fill a gap!..maybe find a piece of black gloss like for a cupboard door and have fitted to make a cupboard front would look nice as we have a black glossy fridge so would tie in..hmm where to get a piece of that?
