Similar thing happened to a friend with a Volvo.In the boot there was a flap covering a manual release.Not sure if vauxhall are the same but its worth a look.0

Try with the key in the door, first turn should do the doors, second turn should do the filler cap.

Mine used to do that also, It used to get gummed up with dirt and not release, YOu can open it manually from inside the boot and then give it a good squirt of wd40. It should them be Ok for another 12 months!0
