What if you had taken her and she was so critical and negative you decided to not buy that one and buy the total oppposite to keep her happy? You'll have this very special day feeling not very special because you have compromised on what you wanted to stop your mum from whinging!

I took my mum because I know that she will be honest about what she thinks whether the dress is good or bad and she would help with ideas and suggestions in a positive way

I took my SiL2b with me! I don't live with my mum about 100 miles away in fact! My mum seemed slightly disappointed but I explained to her that I saw it and liked it and bought it! She didn't mind at all after that! I grew up in a place where there is no where to shop and my mum doesn't drive!

I felt guilty at first but my mum is just happy that I have what I want and she is glad I didn't have to struggle!

I have a similar problem. I was in two minds as to whether to take people with me and had decided to go alone first and get mum and sister to come with me and check it out before I bought. However, there were sales on at bridal shops this week and all my family are away. I tried on dresses and found one I like at such an amazing price I really had to snap it up! I'm now very nervous about whether people will like it, if it suits me and whether my family will be upset about not going with me.
    I know how you're feeling!
