Fridge problems

Hi all,
I've been reading these forums a while now, but this is my first post. I hope someone can offer me some advice. I have a Bosch fridge freezer that is 5 years old. The top shelf of the freezer was not freezing, although the fridge is fine.
This morning I decided to switch off and unpack the freezer and currently have all the food in polystyrene boxes. There was a little bit of ice at the back, but not enough to prevent circulation at the back. I then pulled the appliance away from the wall and saw something a little odd.
There is a round ball shaped thing near the base (compressor?), with what looks like an margarine tub under it. (I'm sorry- I'm no engineer!) This tub has some brown liquid in it. It looks a bit grim.
What is this fluid? Condensation or a leak? I was thinking after the defrost I would switch it back on and see if it is okay, but if something is leaking I might not. I don't want to pay an engineer to come out if there is a) nothing wrong with it or b) it's time for fridge heaven.
Thanks for any advice.

The liquid will be from some defrost residue. Your fridge goes into defrost and the melt runs out through a pipe set into a channel below the cold panel. This then drains through the back and down to the motor (that gets warm) and evaporates off. Give the tray a quick wipe out to make you feel better but all is well. Good luck0

Thanks Lancastrian!
I was worried it was leaking coolant or something.
I will now go and clean up and switch back on.0
