I have several baskets of surfinias which are
Really sticky and dying, the plants appear to be covered in a mouldy substance. Any ideas anyone. All colours are affected and seems to be worse after rain fall.

Difficult without seeing them but it might be aphids if the plants are all sticky. They will eventually suck the life out of the plants if left on them.

'Sticky' is normal for Petunias. Well, it always has been for mine anyway. So I wouldn't assume it is aphids.
If they look mouldy it could be some kind of fungal infection, you could try a multi-purpose fungal spray. As it is worse after rain it could indicate that the plants need better air circulation around them and the leaves are staying damp for too long.
Good luck!0 -
it's normal for them to be sticky. If it were me, Id trace each stem back to healthy buds and cut them back. It sounds like it's probably powdery mildew, can be caused by not watering you plants enough, making them stressed.0
