Blackberries (fruit)- some effort required.
Have been monitoring the blackberry situation in bucks for a week or so now and today we went out for 20 minutes and came back with more than 5 pounds of beautiful ripe berries for eating, freezing and even possibly some jam!
There seem to be absolutely LOADS of them this year!

We went for a look 3 days ago, the header berry was massive on all of clusters but the ones behind weren't ready yet.
We're going to pop down in an hour or so and see if there's any ready for picking.
a very exciting time of year for us!

I haven't even had the time to pick my blackcurrants yet! Redcurrant jelly is made, no idea what to do with the blackcurrants, even my courgettes are turning into marrows, as for blackberries as well - HEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Thanks will go to check our local supply!!
grew blackcurrants this year and ended up with pound of fruit and made jam literally about 2 jars full and lasted a month in fridge - just used half splenda and half brown sugar, sterilised the jar in boiling water from kettle.0 -
A good rule of thumb is to use about the same weight in sugar as in fruit, I never use Splenda or brown sugar, always white sugar, and always sterilize the jars in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
My jam has been known to last for years in the cupboard, especially if I get a little bit carried away

Don't forget that blackcurrants freeze really well & are lovely to thaw out in the winter for making a pie.
I tend to freeze down most soft fruits & just use them as and when needed.0
