Default - Satisfied Can it be removed

If a default is satisfied and has been for a period of time can you request to have it removed from you credit file, how do you go about that,

    there on for 6yrs then drop off if settled or not, have herd of people asking to get it removed after settling but dont think they got any were..

    Nope - it stays on there for 6 years from the date you defaulted the account. It does however count for less than an unsettled default. I think the impact is minimal about 2-3 years after it was settled.

    If less than 6 years since the default, then you could ask.

    However, I can't imagine any company agreeing.

    The idea is that a default stays for 6 years regardless of whether it is satisfied or not. It is considered "fair" to report that to the credit reference agencies, as companies searching your file should know about any default within that time period.
