I have read through pages and pages but still feel the need to make my own post.
My desktop computer is about five years old. I have had problems with the virgin wireless router and the new modem.
I feel perhaps its time to replace for a wireless computer with a web cam. I don't know whether to buy another laptop, we already have one in the house, or a desktop.
Our usage is occasional gaming, photo edting, occasional films or dvd watching, usual docs, surfing and e-mails. I do also burn the odd disc. I currently use XP and Outlook Express.
I want to spend three or four hundred pounds, hoping for a brilliant deal obviously!
Thank you for any help.:rotfl:

The spec is really hanging on what you mean by occasional gaming. Do you need a monitor as well within your price range?0

I do have a flat screen moniter, which replaced the original box type one. My sons do have an xbox which is normally used for gaming so the answer is low key use.

Well you can do all that from a simple desktop or laptop, do you need portability? If you don't I'd go for a desktop since you'll get more bang for your buck.0

Oh right I didn't realise that. I do not need to move it so a pc it is then. Are you aware of any good deals at the moment?
Thank you for your help

What's wrong with the existing PC?!!

It is not wireless. It has a huge tower and I felt the time was probably here to replace it.0

Desktops generally dont come with wireless. If you dont need a new computer it would be a lot lot cheaper buying a wireless dongle or installing a wireless pci card.0

I have bought a wireless adapter but everytime I install it the other units, the wireless router and the modem get knocked out. It seems I can't have all of them together. I really don't understand it all but try to sort it and then get in a mess. Every time I have to call the computer chap in its always £100 plus VAT. That's partly why I thought its tme to replace.0

What do you mean "get knocked out"?0

When I put the adapter in the back of the tower the wireless router doesn't work so I then can't use my laptop upstairs. The reason I want the desktop to be wireless is so that the cable can be plugged into the xbox permanently and not constantly moved.0
