Hello
I was happily typing away in a works database file entering my information and then I always press ctrl s every so often to make sure my work is saved.
Something came up and said there was a problem think along the lines of this file is too large and then I now seem to have lost the file altogether.
I have looked in recycle bin and also in the folder I saved it and nothing.
I have typed in the name of file and searched computer and I can see the file name but its just a shortcut which says this no longer exsists.
Is there any other way of locating this file as it had a huge amount of info on it that i have spent days working on.
I cant believe this has just happened I am ready for pulling my hair out.
Please Please can anyone help
Many thanks
Mrs T

do a wildcard search , there may be a copy hanging around in your temp files unless you rebooted

thanks browntoa but not luck unfortunatey. It comes up with the shortcut that keeps saying this file has been deleted or moved.
Im gutted, dunno how that can happen when i did not delete by accident or anything.
All I did was save the file and it said it was too big or something and before I knew it, it was gone
appreciate you help0 -
If the file has been deleted you might be able to get it back with a program like: http://www.piriform.com/recuva0

hiya thanks for your help. I did not delete the file but it looks like its done itself
I will give this a try and see if it works.
Many thanks0 -
One other thing that may be worth a try: I'm fairly sure that Works stores files temporarily with a tilde symbol before the name - may be worth searching for
~filename.*

Hi
Just wanted to come back on and thank you all again for all your help it was much appreciated.
I didnt manage to recover the file unfortunately despite my best efforts.
All was not lost as I did have another file with some of the info I had typed but still lost hours of info that I typed but im almost back up to where I was.
The microsofot works spreadsheet has since done the same thing so I was careful to save it as a different name and have now stopped using this program as I think its a bug in it or something.
Anyway thanks again folks your all fab :-)0 -

Not as short as Ctrl+S, which IS the usual one for almost every program. The same way as Ctrl+C is the shortcut for copy, Ctrl+V for paste and so on....
When you click on File you will see the shortcuts written behind the action.0
