DLA Claim Help

Recently I was diagnosed with Hypermobility Syndrome and would like to claim DLA with it as it does hamper my ability to walk long distances and to stay on my feet for a long time.
However, I already put a claim in for my Asthma and Anxiety, was sent out a letter for a medical then sent a letter saying it was refused.
I have no idea what to do and the benefits people dont have a bloody (sorry) clue either.
Just wondering if I should make a new claim and start over yet this time mention the Hypermobilty as well as the Asthma and Anxiety?
Suggestions grateful

dla is turned down 50% of the time on 1st applacation, and if i were you only get the CAB to fill your forms in, theres a way to fill it in with wording etc silly i no0 -
Do you have a link to support your claim that DLA is turned down 50% of the time on first application? I've read several posts over the last few months that say first time DLA claims are frequently turned down, but have yet to see any evidence to support this. I'm genuinely interested, as I have never had any problems witjh my son's DLA (and have never received any help filling in the forms). I also know several people who receive DLA and none have been turned down on their first application - although one was turned down on a later application due to incorrect information from her child's school, and is currently at the appeal stage.
I'd find a link really interesting.0 -
I applied for DLA on behalf of my sons and first time round they got DLA MRC and LRM, second time round the son with less needs got his apporved until he is 9 (about 3 years), while the son with more needs got turned down (under appeal just awaiting a tribunal date - ten months and counting).
Its based on need as opposed to diagnosis.
Did you appeal the claim turned down? If not and 30 days has passed by (I think it's 30), then you would need to do a new claim and provide them with details about your care and mobility needs.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

TBH, I wouldn't state something as fact without the evidence to back it up. CAB advisors aren't always right - I know somebody who has just reapplied for DLA based on his worst day, as this is what the CAB advisor told him to do. He told me after he had sent int he form. I pointed out that this could be fraud, as he isn't that bad most of the time.
I can understand that mental health problems may be turned down more frequently than learning difficulties or physical disabilities, as presumably they are more likely to be variable over a period of time.0 -

Me too I have to say for every bad story about DLA, I reckon there are 10 good. People only say about the bad.
My experiences, DS1 has just had his DLA renewed at HRC/LRM after a lovely decision maker phoned me to double check some stuff. As some days he is a lot worse than others, I put down the "average" day however as you are supposed too not the worst. It was a renewal from a mrc/lrm award turns out all this time he would have been entited to HRC. We had the award changes and backdated immediately from the date I sent the renewal in which was early.
MY DS2 has just been awarded HRC/LRM for the same condition. I could have probably put a claim in for him a few years ago. I didn't want too. He has just got his diagnosis but his care needs have been there a long time. I was in denial for a long time he would have problems too. The dx made me face up to it and the sheer amount of cash his needs were costing.
So I have been thought the process 3 times and being a bit naive to the system, I had no special help, I sent in all up to date reports and gave all the up to date details of dr's, Sens, schools etc. I have never, ever had a problem.0
