Prepayment Metere - EDF? Ebico?
Hi,
I am on a prepayment meter for gas and electricity.
I had huge costs with British Gas, so changed to Southern Electric.
I have had no more luck with them either,
Both companies claim that I was paying a service charge with the other company, whilst both deny they do. (if that makes sense).
I've read good reviews on EDF. But that only seems to be on direct debit, etc. Are they any good for Prepayment?
And is anybody with Ebico for Prepayment. I like the sound of them, but not 100% sure yet.
Many thanks.
Lucy-Ann

What has 'luck' got to do it? Have a look on the comparison sites to see what prepayment tariffs are available in your postcode. If you had 'huge costs' with the previous two then chances are your consumption will be too high for Ebico. But find out what your annual useage is and see what is available.
And read your meters and work out how much you are spending and adjust your useage or how much you put aside to suit.0 -
Be aware that Ebico use Southern Electric as their supply partner and billing agents.
(I know you don't get a bill as such with a PPM, but it is Southern Electric who are the only ones with access to your account information).
As Kim says, use a compariosn site to find the best deal that suits you. You can get details of anticipated annual consumption in kWh from your existing supplier."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

No luck means I still have huge bills.
I use less electricity and gas than my parents who live in the same size home. There are 2 people in their home, and 2 in mine.
Yet, my outgoings for energy are still considerably more.
Aside from sitting in the dark and never using hot water, there isn't much I can do to lower my usage. I'm very frugal with it.
Have been on comparison sites, hence why I posted on here.
To get people's opinions on the 2 companies I mentioned.
Why else would I waste my time?0 -
Well, ignore the first seven words of my first reply if they rub you up the wrong way and re-read the rest of the post. There is not much difference in price for average users between companies but the less you use the more likely Ebico is to be cheaper. If you are frugal (and aren't electricity-centric) then Ebico are a better bet. But you still have to check with the comparison sites (or your own calculations) with a couple of different useage scenarios.
I am not sure what opinions you want - it is the same juice that comes through the meters - who cares what some disaffected customer thinks of one supplier or the other? Are your parents on prepayment meters too? If they have credit meters then their bills can be £275 cheaper than yours (if average users).0
