Moving home: how to pack drawers?

Options
Hi, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, mods, feel free to move if so.

I'm moving out, OH says its ok to leave things in drawers, i think they should be packed. Any views on that?

I don'y want the removals people to come and at the 11th hour have to pack all the stuff left in drawers... yet i don't want to pack them away either if i can save myself that job... :o

Thanks!

I've never used a removal firm but I taped cardboard on top to stop the stuff falling out then you don't have to pack it all up.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I just left my stuff int he drawers, did this in living room and in the bedroom with clothes etc. I did the very minimal of packing at all - if i could lift and move, I did.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I'm sticking everything into a plastic carrier bag and leaving them in the drawers - don't want the removal men to see my knickers/bras etc!! If the carrier bags fall out then at least they will be contained!

I'd check with the removals company.

I've always left the stuff in the drawers, then taken the drawers out of the chests to move them onto/off the van.

My OH runs a removal firm and the general rule is this:

If the drawers are solid, with strong bases, then you can leave things in the drawers. The drawers will be taken out of the unit. The unit will be loaded onto the van and the drawers slotted back in. Ties will be put around the drawers to prevent them opening during transportation.

If the drawers are the flat pack type, it is generally better to empty them has they can come apart if moved whilst still full.

    Hope this helps

I always leave them full and tape them shut.. it is so much easier and takes up much less space too!
