Replacement safety glass for greenhouse

We've been gifted a hand-me-down 6x8ft greenhouse with standard horticultural glass. We have 2 kids, so I would like to replace with toughened glass or safety glass, but not sure where is best place to get it. I though the greenhouse companies would sell panels, but from a quick browse I couldn't see this. Any suggestions and rough indications of what it might cost please? Many thanks
Waddle you do eh?

A local glazing company might be your only route - but get several quotes as this stuff can be horrbly expensive!

A glazing company will cut you glass to fit, but it won't be cheap. I bought an Ebay greenhouse earlier this year, with safety glass, and the guy I bought it from mentioned that he'd broken one of the big panels when he built it, and just that one sheet had cost him £50.

As a lower cost alternative, how about safety film?

Laurel's right - it won't be cheap, as I said. When my greenhouse was delievered the people who erected it for me managed to break a pane (not really thier fault) and I was shocked how much a replacement from the local glass company cost.

Depends on the size of the garden, and the kids, but my two survived remarkably well by being told not to go down any of the paths around our 25' glasshouse. They knew why & what would happen if they did, so didn't. ;)

Later, because some of their friends were less 'co-operative,' we had a fence. The fence was cheaper than the alternatives.

Thanks for you replies. I'm wondering how strong the polycarbonate sheeting is, in relation to strong winds, etc?

Its 4mm thick not like the cheaper blown ones they sell with greenhouses No wobble fits snuggly into groves and the glazing clips hold them in except in my case they are screwed in because of my make of greenhouse. One of the sellers advertises it as virtually unbreakable (Greenhouse warehouse) I think. And an ultra violet coating. Phone them the guy i spoke to the first time was very good with advice.
