Windows vista and epson r240

Options
I have just brought an Acer laptop (with Windows Vista) and have tried to connect my Epson R240 printer to it. It started to install but now I have a pop- up box saying... "YOUR VERSION OF HEWLETT-PACKARD PRINTER ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH THIS VERSION OF WINDOWS".

Does anyone know if it is possible to install my printer on my laptop, as I don't want to get rid of a perfectly good printer, and I would rather not have to shell out on a new printer if I can help it!!!

Thanks in advance.

If your windows is 64bit your r240 printer wont work as there are no compatible drivers for it from epson.
you will have to buy another printer sorry.

You can download your printer drivers & software from the Epson website.
If you are using the machine you want to install the printer on to visit the site, it will identify your operating system for you. If you are using another computer to download the drivers, make sure to select the correct operating system first.

If there are no drivers from Epson you can use the Xerox Global Printer Driver which works with pretty much everything: http://www.office.xerox.com/software-solutions/global-printer-driver/enus.html

Not sure about Vista, but Windows Update installed the 64bit drivers for Win 7, when none were available from the manufacturers site.
    Move along, nothing to see.
