DIY Sanding Sheets

I have recently bought a Black and Decker Mouse sander. This has been put to very good use over the past few days whilst I have been re-decorating. (I would highly recommend these). Today I went out to buy some replacement velcro-backed (hook and loop) sanding sheets at a cost of £8.05 for 5 sheets. These are shaped and have holes to suit the Black and Decker Sander. I will need to buy a range of grades so it will really cost! If I had been able to wait I could have bought some on-line for about half of this price, but its still quite pricey.
I am thinking about making my own if I can find a source of cheap rectangular velcro-backed (hook and loop) sanding sheets. It will be easy to cut & punch these to size.
Anyone tried this? Anyone know a source of cheap rectangular velcro-backed (hook and loop) sanding sheets?

keep an eye out in places like Lidl, I picked up a couple of packs of the mouse velcro size ones I think there was around 30 in each pack and they were only £2.99 wish I had brought more now but when I went back they were gone. Ive had to go buy some and spent £30!!
And your right the mouse sander is fantastic I do all my sanding with it.:hello:"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing it doesn't go in a fruit salad0 -

Will the mouse take a standard sized detail sander sheet? You could buy these and then cut/punch the dust extraction holes:

If you go to Tesco in the DIY isle they sell sanding sheets for the Tesco detail sander. These sheets now have the same hole pattern as the B&D mouse. Tesco changed their hole pattern, much to my frustration, meaning I had a useless detail sander as the sheets were no longe available. After a letter to Terry Leahy and a rake of excuses they sent me a new sander and an explanation for changing the old hole pattern to the new one.

Check what we do.
We have a Bosch palm sander (aka mouse) and found that a pack of 25 sheets is a £18 ripoff.
Basically keep the original old velcro backed shaped sandpaper you have worn out for pattern.
Buy good Aluminium oxide (or any other) sandpaper and some strong fast dry glue.
Trace the old pattern on new paper and mark the holes with a pen.
Punch the holes in the new paper with an office hole puncher.
Glue the new piece to the back of the old velcro, wait 10 minutes and away you go.
Total cost:
A pack of mixed grade good sandpaper - £4
Glue: £1.98
£5.98 :T
Or you can just get them off ebay
