Removals - hourly or daily rate?

Exchanged contracts today - at last(!) and so to removals. Which of these options would you choose:
1. Company who offers an hourly rate of £55 if move takes less than 7 hours, or flat daily rate of £495 if more than 7 hours. This includes anything up until 10pm, should it take that long! Company is member of The Guild of Removers.
2. Company who offers a flat daily rate of £390 for anything between 8am and 6pm. Not sure of costs if it goes past 6pm. Company is member of British Association of Removers.
All prices ex VAT.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

How many bedrooms?
How many people live there?
How many miles to go?0 -
3 beds, 2 adults and 2 kids (plus lots of toys!). Only 7 miles to move.
Only thing I can see that would make it more than 7 hours is any delays in getting the keys. How long do these things take on average.0 -
Keys will I think depend on where in the chain you are.
Is the cost including packing or just removals? In my experience it always takes longer to pack than their estimate.0 -
Only four houses in chain - ours is one up from bottom. Prices are for removal only.0

you cannot compare the two until you know ""Not sure of costs if it goes past 6pm." on company 20

I think I would ask to quote a price for the job or there is no way to easily compare quotations. Paying an hourly rate is an incentive to work slowly to spin the work out as long as possible0
