Around £20-25 per square yard is about the going rate for solid oak, I would go to an independent flooring company rather than one of the big chains, where abouts are you and maybe someone can recommend a place0

Makro sells solid oak flooring at £11 sqm, but it's the small strip variety with lots of knots and grains, I had it installed in my old flat and it looked great.0

I read a post on this before buying mine. The conclusion was that cheap solid is likely to be imature and unstable and engineered wood is better unless you pay allot more for good solid. The reason is that they use only 1/4 the amount of solid wood on a engineered floor on 2 sheets of plywood. Each layer is bonded at 90 degrees making it more dimensionally stable. Wickes had some at 20% off a couple of weeks ago making it £15.99 per sq metre. Stax trade centres have some offers starting at £9.99 + vat but you need a card.Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!0 -

Allied has some offers on at the moment both on solid and engineered boards, I can recall a solid oak at about £28 m2.....but they charge you just as much to fit it.£900 towards next holiday...ta very much Mr T x0

The best manufacturers, in my experience, are Bruce and Tarkett - if you contact them, they should be able to tell you your nearest stockist.0
