Advice Needed for Mould Under Vinyl Lino Flooring

Hi There,

I am posting this for a family member who needs some advice. She has just got a house which has a downstairs bathroom. The toilet had a leak which seems to have got under the lino before she moved in. So i decided to remove the old lino to find it was very damp under it with black mould. This was removed last weekend and i have not been back yet to check.

What is the best way to now remove the mould from the contreat floor before we lay some more lino down.

Chris

Just clean it off with a bleach solution and a scrubbing brush. Let it dry with the window open.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

Is it best to mix the bleach with water

I would not add any more moisture to the floor, as you will just make it damper and increase the risk of mould reoccurring when the lino goes back down

Dry brush the floor and leave it exposed with good air circulation for several days, and mould will disappear as soon as it dries out properly. The thing is not to put the lino down too soon as you will trap moisture and be back a square one
