EGR valve. Sometimes a fault code shows up pointing to the MAF sensor even although its the valve.
You can read fault codes with a paperclip on that car. Join the omega_owners group on yahoo groups, search their files for fault_codes pdf.0 -

weres the egr vavle located?
all depends what shape veccy b.
if it was one of the very last of the early shape then it will be a x18xe engine and egr is located on r/h side by coil pack. (there were a few of this shape on v plate that mobo and lease had)
if it is the facelift model it will be a x18xe1 and if memory serves me correct it is at the rear on inlet manifold.
personally i would say throttle body and IAC valve clean needed.
is the fault hunting and cutting out on idle or is it surging when on the move?0 -
At the rear of the engine. Roughly in the middle and up at the top. You may have to remove the air filter to get to it. From memory, i think it's 2 bolts that secure it with one of them being a pain to get to.
That was the 2 litre.
I think it's bolted to what harveybobbles recommends cleaning0 -
