PC World website - anyone bought anything recently?

Options
I've just tried to buy a couple of things on the pc world website and got as far as the delivery stage where I choose how to have the items delivered. I press the continue button but get an error "CheckoutRouter - the page itself is null!", helpful I know. Has anyone ordered something and had the same problem or is it just me?

I tried emailing customer.services@pcworld.co.uk but the message came back saying it had been forwarded to another email address in the company that did not exist. Very helpful!
Fiscal drag, that's my problem. Too many people dragging on my fiscals.

Have you tried temporarily switching off your firewall, enabling all cookies and allowing pop-ups?
  • Have you tried buying elsewhere? It's an overall reflection of PCWorld, who in my estimation are clueless, unhelpful, pushy, and, unnecessarily awkward once you've handed your money over.

    You're not a fan then?

    lol. No.

My experiences of using PCW are both personal and business. From a personal point of view they're difficult with returns, "Maybe it's your Internet connection." It's a bluetooth keyboard!!! And from a business point of view spending literally £1000's a week, there was always a problem of some kind, something missing, something damaged, something different.

The small independent shops are far better, since they generally won't let you walk out of the door with a monitor when all you really needed was a video card. I can go to my independent and 'borrow' things for testing, naturally on the understanding that they're unmarked and simply used for testing. Marvelous arrangement.

Shhh! I'm at work! I don't think I'll be asking our IT guys about switching firewalls off so I can shop in work time. Apart from that cookies and popups should be both enabled. I'll try it from home this evening.

  • I have recently bought off their website, surprisingly they had the cheapest price on the item i wanted. Had no problems at all.

I'm sure you're very IT savy but you'd be surprised just how many people overlook the simplest things.

I've been an IT engineer for years now and still some things surprise me...like the lady who recently logged a call due to her "mouse not working" which on closer inspection turned out to be her PC needed switching on! Or the guy that logged a call two weeks after his PC hanging and wanted to know why and did say that it hadn't happened before and since.

I'm not trying to defend PCW but that's why they're probably a bit cautious and even IT engineers are known to make mistakes.
